‘His experimental practices are based on digging deep – imaginatively, historically, linguistically – into the landscape.’

David Cooper (The Problem of Precedent: Mapping the Post-Romantic Lake District)

Limnology (2020)

‘what line did the river first write in the valley?’

Originally published in 2012, the first Limnology book was, in part, an attempt to visually enact the motions of rivers, albeit within the restrictive grid of traditional typographic lineation.

This revised edition removes that inhibition by using a series of algorithmic processes to more faithfully imitate the topographies of streams, rivers, pools, marshes and deltas.

The book is suffixed by a selection of riverine works produced between 2012 and 2020: Become a Ford, Still Glides the Stream and Erosions.
