Limnology (2012)

A longform recording that imagines the life of a river, from its source in the uplands to its eventual meeting with the sea.

Limnology is an auditory accompaniment to the book of the same name, which comprises a sequence of poems variously structured to echo the meandering progress of streams, rivers and other inland waterways. The source of much of this work is a glossary of riverine words that constitute the book’s final section, gathered from the dialect of Cumbria and its tributaries in the Germanic and Celtic languages.
