From Which the River Rises (2010)

Two longform recordings for rivers. The first, Come the Aegir, imagines the incoming swell from a tidal bore - barely perceptible at first, but culminating in waves of ever increasing intensity, as the influx eventually overpowers the onward motion of the river and forces its way back upstream. By contrast, The Water’s Burden tracks the slackening current of a river in its final stages as it releases the sediment it has carried downstream. In a musical sense, the water’s burden is also its music, its drone or ‘bourdon’. From Which the River Rises therefore also anticipates both Limnology (2012) and Eilean Fuinn (2017).

‘Seeking to evoke the very tissue of experience, both in the sense of a relationship built up over time, and in the raw moment of being.’
