Above/Below (2014)

A score created for the ‘above and below’ landscape near the river Alde in Suffolk, derived from observations of plants and birds along its banks.

The notation developed for the composition presents an assemblage of notes, but not pitches, that can be played in variations determined by the individual musician.

Commissioned by Faster than Sound, and played by the Elysian Quartet.

‘Even if he isn’t performing, Skelton’s alchemical touch is at the heart of this music.’
